How did you celebrate your LO’s 1st birthday?

First baby- cake and ice cream with MAYBE 10 people. No food. No decorations. No party.

Second baby- we are planning a trip around that time because it’s cheaper/less crowded.

No parties because every 1 yr old party I go to they are either asleep or crying. Party years are 3, 5, 10, 13, and 16. Every other year we travel.

We had a huge first birthday and invited all the people who came to the baby shower. Spent way too much money, now for her second birthday we’re just gonna have a small cake for the adults since we don’t give baby girl sugar.

My son was really into when people clap for him at the time so I had a small party. (We don’t have many friends near us.) His name is Jack so it was Jack-In-The-Box (toy not food chain) theme. Had a small smash cake and made everyone clap for him. He loved it.

It was “off Christmas” around that weekend in November, my family and cousins etc get anyone who can come to celebrate Christmas early as it’s not the year we do it on Xmas day.

Before "Xmas lunch’ we had a little happy birthday and cake, then cause we were camping we went swimming in the beach after. But we were more there for Xmas, probably would have just had cake with all 3 of us if it wasn’t a family gathering.

We had a pool party with friends and family since we have a pool in our backyard. We had hot dogs and hamburgers, a cotton candy station where they made them into characters, we rented a tripping ride for the older kids. Originally my husband wanted it to be small but last minute he changed his mind and we went all out. On her actual birthday, we played with her new toys and swam in the pool since she loves to swim.

Our girl will be 1 in March. Our place is too small for any gathering, and it will be too cold to do anything outside so we’re going to go to the aquarium. I’ll decorate our apartment and we’ll have a cake for her. Maybe invite a few friends and family.
