After our 2-month checkup, we were advised by our doctor to stop waking her up for nighttime feeds and just see what happens. We did so, and she ended up sleeping a full 8 hours

I had a similar experience! When I first had my son, my mom advised me to avoid waking him during the night. She said to only disrupt his sleep to feed during the day. Since he was 3 weeks old, he’s been sleeping overnight without interruption. Now he’s almost 6 months and we’re getting 10 to 11 hours
@Lior
I’d say the only time you’d really want to wake a baby would be if they’re underweight; otherwise, nighttime feeds are important

Absolutely!
My baby had her first ‘long’ stretch of sleep for 6 hours and 45 minutes at exactly 3 months. She’s 4 months now and has only managed that a couple of times since—usually she sleeps for 3.5 to 4 hours
5 months in and I’m just waiting for my little one to finally sleep for a long stretch. Currently, we’re still around the 3 to 5-hour mark, mostly leaning closer to 3 hours. My wife puts her on the breast, and she’s back to sleep in about 10 to 15 minutes
@Mai
Same here! I feel like that’s my only prayers now, hoping to catch up on the sleep I lost during the past year
@Mai
We had a small miracle the other day; I watched on the monitor as he stirred, grabbed his pacifier, popped it in, and slept right back. It was such a win
My little boy started only needing one overnight bottle around 10 weeks. Then he dropped it about a week ago right before turning 12 weeks and now goes from 9 pm to about 5 am. I still check on him to make sure he’s okay though, because mom instincts
If it happened, it was a rare occasion that didn’t repeat for a long time. I think it was around 7 months, to be honest
My 8-week-old usually goes for 4 to 5 hours with her long stretch. Bedtime is anywhere between 8 and 10 pm, and I’m really working on establishing a routine. We do a bottle right before bed (1 oz of formula and 3 or 4 oz of breast milk depending on the night and how much she ate during the day). When she wakes up, I check her diaper and change her if needed, then nurse and rock her back to sleep. After that, I might get another 3 hours from her. I dream of the day she gives me a full 8 hours
My 4-week-old can do 5 hours without waking. Sometimes it stretches to 6 hours if I help by putting his binky back in. I know this isn’t the norm though
My second child slept through the night from the first night in the hospital. Now it’s more on and off. My first? He’s almost 3 and it’s still unpredictable
At 2 weeks, my baby was sleeping 6 to 7 hours, by 6 weeks he was hitting 10 to 12 hours regularly. Now at 4 months, we haven’t had less than a 9-hour stretch since that 6-week mark. Sure, he wakes once or twice during that time, but he doesn’t need help going back to sleep. Once he started going that long, I had my own method when I would help him. If he cries, I help immediately, but if he just makes a few sounds, I wait 15 minutes before stepping in—he usually falls back asleep within 10 minutes
My little one is 8 months and has never slept longer than 5 hours
Yeah, probably around 6 to 8 weeks we saw 7-hour uninterrupted stretches for a short while, but then the sleep regression hit, and it’s been every 2 to 3 hours since, and she’s now 10 months old. So much fun
Mine had her first long stretch at 8 weeks and only managed to do 4 hours
Started doing 4-hour stretches around week 8 and then around 8 hours around week 13
At 2 months, we took our little one camping, and she fussed for 4 hours straight the first night. She wore herself out and slept 8 hours straight. Before that, at home, she was managing 5 to 6-hour stretches most nights. Not recommended for everyone’s peace of mind, but we slept so well
We had one random 5-hour stretch at 6 weeks, but he didn’t start doing it regularly until 2 months. Now at almost 6 months, his first stretch is usually 7 to 9 hours, but not always uninterrupted. It’s common for us to get up and replace his pacifier or adjust the rocking level on his Snoo or turn his shusher back on
