Our son is nearly 17 months old and weighs 23 lbs. The doctor isn’t concerned since he’s gaining weight, though it’s happening slowly. He eats three meals a day plus snacks and is very active. However, family comments about him being “so light” or “tiny” always get to me. They often ask if he’s a picky eater, which makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong. Does anyone else experience this?

The growth rate is not constant for every child. For instance, my son was not 23lbs until he was about two years old. His friend was 21lbs at 6 months. Surprisingly, they are both 3 now, and their weight almost the same. As long as he is growing and he is healthy you do not need to worry.
