What are your go-to parenting tricks

I’m about to become a parent for the first time in 2 months. Feeling a bit lost with choosing bottles, car seat, and other things.
Can anyone share some simple things you’ve done? What did you buy to make life easier? Nothing too pricey or wild please

I found this app called parrot. I recorded myself shushing and the app plays it on a timer, really helps the baby sleep.

That’s such a clever idea

It’s even better with a second device, you can leave your phone in another room and use an iPad or something with the baby. :heart: Hope it helps

@Wylder
You can also connect to a speaker and put that in the room. Just make sure not to play anything else on your phone.

I have a speaker too, but I use my phone to watch videos too much. It didn’t work for me, but it may work for others!

I knew a family where the dad recorded himself singing lullabies. They played it every night at bedtime. Super sweet

Wow, I’m going to try that right now.

I’m not sure this counts as a hack, but get some diaper rash cream before the baby arrives. We were really surprised the first time our baby had rash and had to run out late at night for it. It’s good to have it ready.

@Blaze
Stock up on all the meds and health items before the baby comes! Gas drops, Tylenol, dosing pacifier, thermometer, and nose sucker are essential. You don’t want to be searching for Tylenol when you’re leaving the doctor’s office after the 2-month shots.

@Tavis
This is so true. I wish someone had pinned this advice because I panicked and bought a ton of these items.

@Tavis
I regretted not having gas drops. That day was rough!

@Tavis
If you can, buy when stores like Target have sales and coupons. The Target circle program is free and has many good baby deals.

@Tavis
I gave my baby Tylenol at the doctor’s office 10 minutes before the shots!

Our doctor advised against this, saying it could affect how well the vaccine works.

Interesting, I’ll ask about that at our next visit. Thanks for sharing!

Pain relievers can reduce the body’s response to vaccines, making them less effective. Study.

@Blaze
Also, get a spatula for the diaper cream because that stuff gets EVERYWHERE!!!

Instead, you could use a clean wet wipe over your finger to apply the cream.

I prefer a spatula to control the amount and where I apply. When you’re done, wipe it on the inside of the diaper before closing.
