My LO is in the 90th percentile for height and weight. I know everyone experiences “dang, this baby feels really heavy right now,” but he’s still small enough to require regular neck support, and I’m worried I’ll develop carpal tunnel syndrome from the weight of his big ol’ head!
Also, we’ve been doing well without cosleeping, but I’m looking at the Safe Sleep 7 sample photographs and I’m honestly not sure how I’d position myself (5’1") so that he wasn’t laying on top of my arm or running into my legs.
(Mostly here for solidarity, but will take any practical advice you have!)
I’m on vacation with my 9.5-month-old, and it’s been difficult to hold her. I need to get to the gym as soon as possible and start working on my strength.
It’s not a joke. We have a modest home gym, and for the first few months, my husband and I have been taking shifts so that the other may work out, even if we are exhausted. Ours is a big baby and just getting bigger, and there’s no way we’ll keep up, but we’ve got to try.
It’s tough! He’s only three months old, but he wears sizes six to nine months. I have to constantly reminding myself that he is younger than he appears, and that I should expect less from him. The upside of his size is that he sleeps quite well at night! You have to weigh the inconvenience against the benefits.
I had no idea there was a correlation between being a huge baby and sleeping well! Mine is 86 percentile, and she sleeps 8 hours each night. I suspected there was something wrong. Lol!
My pediatrician explained that larger newborns have larger stomachs, which allows them to hold more food and stay fuller for longer periods of time. My baby is on the opposite end of the spectrum, so sleep is not an option around us .
