I purchased two large packs of white washcloths from Costco a week before my daughter’s birth. They have become the most useful thing thus far. Changing a diaper? To avoid a mess, throw a rag underneath. burp cloths. They can be small pillows or blankets. Of course, cleaning and bathing go hand in hand. It has made everything much easier.
Yes! I use these every day! I went from “what are we gonna do with 20 washcloths” to “I’m so glad we got so many washcloths.”
I agree! I go through at least one during each diaper change. My hubby felt I had way too many until we started using them. I want even more.
Unexpected use: My infant enjoys waving a wet washcloth around like a flag while I clean up after her meals. Keeps her entertained for an extended period of time.
That’s quite cute. Mine is still little, so she does not understand what they are. She enjoys touching everything with the back of her hand and sticking her tongue out.
Mine does it with a baby wipe while I am changing her, hehe. I’ll have to try a washcloth during dinner to see if it helps her stay quiet.
Freeze damp washcloths so your baby can nibble on them when teething. Works so wonderfully for us! For some reason, this is far superior to a frozen teething ring.
My baby is starting to teeth, and I’ve been dying to do this, but doesn’t it make a mess as the fabric melts?
I don’t make it sopping wet before freezing it; rather, I wet it, wring it out to medium strength, and then place it in the freezer.
As he nibbles on it as it melts, he prefers to suck on one corner, keeping it from dripping. The rest wasn’t wet enough to drop to begin with, so at worst his shirt gets a little damp, as will the couch if we leave it there.
Yesss wash cloths are what I use to for everything!
I got a number of Gerber cloth diapers (flat folds) and we use them for all of the messes, as well as a sun cover when we babywear. That, along with the hose sprayer bidet attachment, has proven to be my most handy buy.
