Hi new parents, I’m really concerned about my nine-month-old. He has been forcefully throwing up during and after feeds for over a week now. I took him to the pediatrician on Monday, and she said he didn’t look dehydrated, did an exam, and told me to bring him in later in the week if it was still happening.
The weird thing is, when it started last week, I thought it was a stomach bug. It got a bit better on days 4-6, but in the last two days, I have had to syringe feed him; otherwise, it’s immediate vomiting. I just scheduled another appointment today in two hours, but I’m curious if anyone has had a similar experience and what it ended up being?
Hey there,
I’m really sorry to hear about what you’re going through with your little one. It’s good that you’ve scheduled another appointment. While I’m not a doctor, I can share that persistent vomiting like this could sometimes be due to reflux, a more prolonged stomach bug, or even a food intolerance or allergy. Some parents have also reported similar symptoms when their baby had pyloric stenosis, which is a condition that can cause severe vomiting. It’s excellent that you’re being proactive and getting him checked out again—trust your instincts as a parent. In the meantime, keeping him hydrated is key, so you’re doing the right thing with the syringe feeding. I hope you get some answers and that he feels better soon!
