Hello, I am searching for a new convertible car seat for my son who is almost one-year-old, and I was wondering whether there was a difference in quality and safety between car seats that cost 200 USD and those that cost 550 USD. I am puzzled between the Nuna Rava (550 USD) and the Graco (200 USD), which is the most highly rated car seat on Amazon. Why does the Nuna cost over twice as much?
While this is not something we should cut costs on, I am attempting to be more frugal going forward after getting taken advantage of when we purchased an absurdly costly crib and were overcharged when we purchased our stroller.
I enjoy the Nuna Rava’s increased safety features, higher quality materials, and convenience of use, all of which are vital to me in assuring my child’s safety and comfort. However, I appreciate the need to be more thrifty, so if money is a major consideration, the Graco model still provides outstanding safety and functionality at a lesser cost.
I heard a cool Freakonomics podcast on this. Basically, most car seats are equally safe, whether pricey or budget. The real danger? People often install them wrong. Grab a cheaper seat and read the manual thoroughly!
