I had the most difficult experience with my first baby, but today I just wanted to share something little and cute.
I was singing nursery rhymes to entice my 7-month-old to take his first nap of the day when he rolled towards me, looked me in the eyes, and slapped both his hands over my mouth, forcing me to stop singing, before rolling back onto his other side showing me his back and falling asleep.
He also occasionally smells like broccoli.
What small incidents have brightened your day today?
My four-month-old has been a fussy and exhausted baby today. She is started sobbing every time she is put down, even though she usually enjoys playing on her play mats for a few minutes at a period. I don’t mind more baby snuggles, but today has been difficult. I was trying to calm her down when her papa walked by. She smiled broadly as she glanced up at him. When she is really delighted, she buries her head in my chest and looks at him out the corners of her eyes, and she does it with the largest smile. It warmed both of our hearts after a long, hectic day.
My almost 5-month-old had his loudest giggling session yet today with me before bedtime. I could not help it; tears began to pour. That beautiful infant fills my heart with pure love and happiness.
When my 7-week-old stretches when he wakes up, he scrunches up his knees and raises his arms straight up by his head, and his little fists “shake,” and I’ll never forget how adorable that is.
Oh my goodness, I love that so much!!! That was also something my baby used to do!! I tried so many times to capture it on tape, but I couldn’t, and now he doesn’t shake his hands when he stretches anymore.
Today, we gave our little one his first proper bath since his umbilical stump fell off. He only cried a little and seemed to enjoy it overall! He looked absolutely adorable wrapped in his towel afterward. I held him to warm him up and dry him off before applying lotion and putting on fresh pajamas. He made the cutest cooing noises and even smiled a bit! It was such a sweet moment. Despite our busy day, ending the weekend with bath time after dinner was just perfect.
My friends came over with their two daughters (3 and almost 7), and one of them asked their mother to read her one of my baby’s books, but her mother told her we were talking and that if she wanted, she could read to my baby, who was sitting in her swing a few feet away. The three-year-old plopped down on the floor and instantly started doing precisely that, and it was adorable! The cuteness, along with finally seeing our children connect, overwhelmed me, and I ugly cried.
