My baby girl is almost 7 months old and I was changing her diaper this morning and she said mama!!! She’s said it 3 more times so far and I’m in tears I know she is most likely just babbling but it’s brought my day so much joy I really needed this!
My baby still barely knows how to use mama correctly and he’s 14mo:astonished:

When did your baby first say it?

He said it around 8-9 months because he only wanted to say dada since he was like 6-7 months old

My 3-year-old has a speech delay and didn’t really start talking until she was 2.5. (She’s made great progress - daycare with peers helped so much.) It blew my mind to see my 12-month-old picking up language so much faster.
@Koa
I think he’ll take a while as well just because I speak Spanish at home and they speak Arabic in his dad’s home. And with English everywhere, I don’t think he knows what language to use yet

Yeah, that does delay things a bit, but they usually get all caught up by three.
@Koa
I feel you. We’re at 21 months and I think total he will say 20 words but actually using them without prompting is maybe 5 We are in therapy though but doesn’t seem to be helping. But each word is amazing to hear!

Sounds about right, we even had Grandad (well, gan-da) before he called me anything. Well, bubba skipped Mama entirely and I got Mummy at around 15 months. He’ll get there.
Aww! I hope you video it so you can watch it 1000 more times - so sweet!
My baby was around 7-8 months when she also said Mama and it was a word because she’d say it and look for me.

I really hope she’s using it as a word I keep pointing to myself and saying mama lolol.
My baby greeted me with “Mama Mama” for the first time on Mother’s Day morning, at 9 months old:butterfly:.

Soooo sweet!
Yay!!! Isn’t it the best sound ever??!!!
YAY!!! I look forward to that day
Baby was the same age and we were in the living room and she said dada! And then tried to army crawl to him and said dada! Again.
We are at ten months and she’s said mama a few times but it’s mostly dada and then launching herself out of my arms at dada. He is her favorite person.
Last week nenenenenene and shaking the head when she didn’t want me to wet wipe her or didn’t want a bottle has started.
She also has raspberries every day, and after I say raspberry? She repeats the canter of what I’m saying back to me, and it sounds like ‘ruhwerry’. I don’t count it but learning language has lots of steps. If you say something a lot they will eventually repeat it even if they don’t know what it means.
My baby said it around the same time too! Turns out it wasn’t babble for us. I believe that your baby likely said it
Awwww how sweet!!!
Awww this is amazing!!! I can’t wait!
