Ideas for non-stereotypical first birthday theme?

My wife and I are at a loss for a birthday theme for our daughter, who will turn one in April. We are not precisely adhering to gender conventions like “beautiful in pink” or “fairy princess,” but when we look for ideas online, that is all we get. Now, we do not dislike a cute party, but all the themes we have seen are overdone. I know our kid will not remember much, but we want to make her party stand out. I guess what I am asking is, what are some unusual themes? Her birthday is a few days after Easter, however we are not hooked on the bunny theme.

It’s funny how those traditional themes like “beautiful in pink” dominate the search results, right? For your daughter’s first birthday, you could go with something unexpected like a “Baby Shark Adventure” theme (cue the song!), or how about a “Magical Garden” theme with lots of vibrant flowers and whimsical creatures? Another fun idea could be a “Little Explorer” theme, where you decorate with maps, binoculars and maybe even a mini “adventure course” for the little ones.

Our child can’t get enough of the Bobs Burgers theme song, so we’ve decided to throw a Bobs Burgers themed party.
