How did you start giving eggs to your baby?

My baby is 5 months old and the doctor said it’s okay to start feeding him. We’ve been giving him pureed foods to introduce him to different foods and prevent allergies. It was going well until today. We tried giving him egg for the first time by mashing hard-boiled egg with breastmilk, following a recommendation from the Solid Starts app. But he didn’t like it at all. He made a face like he didn’t like it and gagged until he threw up. So we stopped and gave him carrots instead to cleanse his palate. The app says he needs to eat egg at least 3 times a week, but I don’t see that happening if it’s like today. How did you introduce egg to your baby? He usually enjoys food, but egg ruined his meal today.

Always be sure to cook eggs well for the baby. Mix about 2 tsp (10 mL) of egg with a little breast milk or formula. Offer your baby 1 tsp (5 mL) at first. You can offer more if your baby still shows signs of hunger.

All my babies would only eat scrambled eggs, and I had to feed them with chopsticks.

I started with only the yolk. I hard-cooked the egg and then crushed the yolk into the baby cereal. After that went well, I gave my son a scrambled egg with the yolk and white. That’s how my baby became accustomed to eating eggs.
