Has anyone ever used weighted sleep sack? Specifically, the dreamland baby or nested bean?

Advice Needed

Hey guys,

I currently have both sleep sacks at home to test, however we are concerned about using a weighted sleep sack on our 9-week-old infant. Has anyone had luck with either of these sleep sacks? Or does anyone disagree with utilising weighted sacks and could explain why?

Also, when did you begin to take your baby out of a swaddle with arms in? She is 9 weeks old and can shimmy her way around her cot, and I am confident she will begin to roll soon.

Yes, many parents use weighted sleep sacks like Dreamland Baby or Nested Bean. They report benefits such as improved sleep quality and soothing effects for babies, but results can vary.

Use sleep sacks without added weight.

The weight can help calm the Moro reflex, which helps babies sleep better. However, the Moro reflex also wakes them up if their oxygen levels drop.

I faced a similar dilemma with my baby when choosing between sleep sacks. Weighted sleep sacks are generally recommended for older infants due to concerns about safety and proper development, so at 9 weeks old, it might be best to stick with a regular sleep sack. As for transitioning out of a swaddle, we waited until our baby showed signs of rolling or had significant head and neck control—usually around 3-4 months. It’s great that you’re mindful of these changes; just ensure the transition is gradual and safe for your little one.
