Are baby breathing monitors such as Nanit dangerous?

I’ve read everything on evidence-based organizations and other sites that claim there isn’t any proof for the advantages of Nanit and pals (owlet being another well-liked one). I understand that. I want to know if there is proof that they are indeed hazardous. or simply a dearth of proof that they are beneficial?

I can’t recommend them too many false alarms caused me unnecessay anxiety unless your baby has an issue

When my son was born, I was inundated with recommendations for various baby monitors like Nanit and Owlet, touted as essential for monitoring his safety and health. Intrigued yet skeptical about their actual benefits, I delved into research that highlighted the lack of robust evidence supporting their efficacy in preventing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or significantly improving infant health outcomes. Despite this, concerns lingered about potential harms or risks associated with using such devices regularly.

Regarding the safety of baby monitors like Nanit and Owlet, there isn’t substantial evidence suggesting they are inherently harmful to infants. However, the critical issue lies in the lack of robust evidence demonstrating their effectiveness or benefits in improving infant health outcomes. Many experts caution against relying solely on these monitors for medical or safety purposes, emphasizing that they should complement rather than substitute traditional parenting practices and regular pediatric care. While some parents find peace of mind using these devices, it’s essential to weigh potential benefits against uncertainties and prioritize evidence-based parenting decisions.
