Why does newborn sometimes cry nonstop when put in bassinet?

This tends to happen more in the evening, but it can occur at any time of day. When she does sleep in the bassinet, she can sleep for hours.

One time, she cried for more than an hour. I usually comfort her before it gets that long.

  • Hunger: No, she’s done this even after drinking so much milk that she spits up a couple of times.
  • Dirty or wet diaper: No.
  • Overtired: No? It happens whether she’s put in the bassinet 45 minutes or over an hour after feeding.
  • Wanting a cuddle or skin-to-skin contact: Maybe? Presumably, every baby prefers that. If this is the reason, I could use some advice on bassinet training.
  • Being too hot or too cold: Probably not; it’s 72°F, and she’s wearing long sleeves and is wrapped in a swaddling blanket. It’s happened when it’s been warmer, too. When she cries, she works herself up so much that she gets sweaty, creating an infinite feedback loop I’m not sure how to fix.
  • Boredom: Maybe, but she needs to sleep.
  • Overstimulation: No, it’s a low-lit and quiet room.
  • Needing burping: No.
  • Gassy: Maybe sometimes, but it can’t be that every time, can it?
  • Acid reflux: No.
  • Fear: No?
  • Sick: No.
  • Sensitive: It happens no matter the outfit.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

The baby may be in an uncomfortable posture or the bassinet may be too hot or cold. Verify that the infant is resting on their back with their knees slightly bent, and check the bassinet’s temperature.
