When you saw your child for the first time, how did you feel?

I assumed I would have to push LO’s head out first, then his body, because I didn’t think he would come out all at once. Surprise was felt first, and then came the realization, "You’re here! Naturally, it’s you. My body flooded with hormones almost instantly, and I broke down in tears because I felt so horrible for him, as he was suffering from the chilly air.

On the other hand, my spouse realized he had to take care for him when he saw his cone-shaped skull. Must put in a lot of effort.

I just found it too hard to explain. For the whole 9 months, my wife was pregnant, I knew I was going to be a dad but I was just nervous I never knew why.

When I was handed this tiny, living human being for the first time, it was exhilarating and terrifying at the same time.

In a few weeks, my son will arrive, and I’m not really feeling much. Everyone talks about how having a child completely changes your life. I want to know whether there’s a eureka moment when you see him for the first time.

I sobbed.

Due to their early birth, the child needed a ventilator and spent many weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit. We had been through a true emotional roller coaster, so it was a huge pleasure to be able to hold and cuddle with each other when we were finally able to.

We had a difficult beginning, but now our happy, healthy toddler would never know. One of my all-time favorite things is becoming a father.
