When was the first time you took your child swimming?

My son will be 4 months old soon. I’m wondering if it’s too early to take him swimming in the summer because it’s so hot where I live. My partner claims not until a year or later, but I know that my mother started teaching my siblings and me to swim when we were very little.

I believe we started teaching newborn swim lessons as early as three months ago. When I get the chance, I’m going to take my child to a pool. I used to be a competitive swimmer, and my husband’s family has a boat, so I’m going to work hard to make sure my child feels at ease in and around water from an early age.

If it’s only water, is that okay? Since it’s hot where I live and I have a tiny pool, I’ve always wondered if I should take my infant swimming or if it would be better to just use the bathtub.

At 3.5 months old, I took my baby to swim lessons. in chlorinated water. then cleaned her off. At 17 months old, she is doing well in her swim lessons and has a powerful kick.

As long as they’re not gulping it it’s not a problem.

It’s safe to take the infant in the pool whenever you want, according to my midwife. Basically, the baby is ready if I am; just keep in mind that they get chilly quickly, so be ready to bundle up soon after. Since summer is quickly approaching, I inquired during our one-week meeting.
