I’m curious, at what age did your baby first start showing their joyful giggles and laughter? And also what made your baby laugh for the first time? I’ve heard that 3 months is a common milestone, and now at 3.5 months, I’m starting to feel impatient. While I’m not concerned and understand each baby is unique, I’m interested to learn about the experiences of other babies. Thank you!
4 1/2 to 5 months, roughly. For six whole weeks, she was furrowing her brows at us before she even bothered to grin. She did smile at her frog toy for a little while beforehand though.
Babies typically start showing their first joyful giggles and laughter around 3 to 4 months of age, although every baby develops at their own pace. Some babies may start laughing as early as 2 months, while others might take a bit longer. The first laughs often come in response to simple interactions like tickling, funny faces, or playful noises made by caregivers. It’s a delightful milestone that reflects their growing awareness and ability to engage socially. If your baby hasn’t started laughing yet at 3.5 months, there’s no need to worry. Keep interacting, smiling, and playing with your baby, and you’ll likely experience those infectious giggles soon. Every baby has their own unique timeline for developmental milestones, and enjoying the journey of discovery together is what makes these moments so special.
Mine was a couple of days to 3 months. I was trying to put her to sleep, but turns out my singing “You Are So Beautiful To Me” was hilarious .
I think around three months. I just did Pikaboo and he lost it. I cried lol.
It seems my baby may be the most solemn little one around. She only began to offer small grins, rather than full smiles, at around 4 months old, and even now at 7 months, she reserves her biggest smiles exclusively for her parents. It wasn’t until she was between 6 to 7 months old that she started to laugh in response to humorous situations.
Most babies typically start laughing aloud around 3 or 4 months old, though some may take longer. Development varies among babies, so if your baby hasn’t started laughing by 4 months, it’s usually not a cause for concern

Many parents wonder when babies start laughing. It usually happens around 4 months old, but remember every baby develops at their own pace. Don’t worry if your 4-month-old isn’t giggling yet!
