Which swaddle is best for a newborn? We’re not a fan of the snoo and want to try a regular swaddle in a still bassinet. Thanks!
I am not a parent yet, so I have no experience in such things but I think you should try a few options to see what your baby likes! Safety and healthy hip development are key.
To avoid unraveling, use swaddles for infants that have tight fastenings like Velcro or zippers. The Aden + Anais Classic Swaddle, the SwaddleMe Original Swaddle, and the Halo SleepSack Swaddle are well-liked choices. To encourage healthy sleep, make sure the swaddle permits appropriate hip growth and offers a secure yet comfortable fit.
When selecting a swaddle for your newborn, consider factors such as ease of use, comfort, and safety. Swaddle blankets offer versatility, allowing you to adjust the tightness and thickness of the wrap to your baby’s needs. Swaddle wraps with Velcro or hook-and-loop closures provide a secure fit, while swaddle sacks and pods offer a cozy, womb-like environment. Look for swaddles made of breathable, soft fabrics that allow for airflow and easy movement. Ensure the swaddle is the right size to prevent any risk of suffocation or overheating. It may be helpful to try a few different types of swaddles to find the one that works best for your newborn and fits your preferences.
The Swaddleme Swaddles are cute. less difficult for my son to get into than attempting to fit his arms through the halo’s openings. There is plenty of velcro space for you to customize how snug they are. I purchase mine from Target in a three-pack.
