Hey everyone! As a new parent, I’m exploring books to read to my babies. I recently read Goodnight Moon and Baby Be Kind, but I’m looking for more recommendations. Any other great books to read to babies would be appreciated!
Particularly “on the Night You Were Born” and “My Love Will Find You,” I adore the Nancy Tillman novels.
Just read her books, any books & have fun with it.
At three months you can read them literally anything. It about engagement as they have no concept of what the book is about. Babies and toddlers can like books that are recommended for higher ages, but if there are too many words on the page they might lose interest. Board books are better for interactions, since paper backs in my house get destroyed by my toddler.
I got a copy of Quantum Physics for Babies and it was my favorite in the newborn stage. Big shapes for baby, interesting refresher on basic chemistry/physics for an adult. And no sappy message for my postpartum self to sob over.
Sandra Boynton books are quite entertaining for adults, and my now 19 month old toddler still likes them.
Busy books are also good for when they get a couple months older and start grabbing things. My toddler still likes hers.
Visit your neighborhood library to check out the resources they offer. I’ve discovered a ton of free board books that I genuinely love reading to my child. Bravo for you for getting started early—it’s crucial for your child’s growth!
