Hey, what are you dressing your baby as for Halloween? My daughter’s going as a pumpkin, but I’m looking for something more creative, any fun ideas? I wish I asked earlier before getting the Target pumpkin costume, although it’s super cute.
I’m a HUGE Halloween enthusiast and a first-time mom with a due date of October 10. I’m having a hard time finding costumes for my little one because the smallest size available at stores like Target, HalloweenCostumes.com, Walmart, and Party City is 0-6 months. That’s quite a range when you think about it—what 3-week-old will fit into something meant for a 6-month-old?
I’m considering a couple of ideas using regular infant clothes with accessories to match costumes my husband and I already have, so the whole family can coordinate:
A) Pirate: Pair a red and white striped onesie with black pants, and maybe a bandana (if our baby girl will tolerate it) for photos.
B) Kuzko’s Poison Bottle (from The Emperor’s New Groove, as my husband and I have Kronk and Yzma costumes), Dress our LO in a pink sleepsack (to represent the pink poison) and a tan beanie (to represent the cork stopper). We could safely pin a sheet of paper with the skull/llama label to the sleepsack.
Does anyone have any advice or other ideas for what we could dress her up as? Thanks in advance!
I would advise lowering your expectations because you will just be three weeks postpartum. I adore Halloween, but I hardly had the stamina to take a shower, much less get the whole family dressed up in matching costumes, three weeks after giving birth. Naturally, every person is unique, but this year, I wouldn’t spend a lot of time and effort on a costume.
For what occasion are you dressing her up? Where are you taking her? I would grab a standard onesie or pair of footie pajamas with a skeleton or pumpkin on them and call it good if it’s just for photos.
