What are effective learning experiences for newborns?
As a first-time mom with a 4-month-old baby boy, my maternity leave is ending soon, and we’ll be transitioning him to full-time daycare at The Learning Experience. We’ve taken several tours, and overall, I feel positive about the center. Naturally, I’m anxious about leaving my baby, especially with strangers. I’d like to hear from other parents who have used this center to get a sense of their experiences and insights.
Honestly, each location varies significantly. Our daughter started at The Learning Experience in August 2021 (she was born in February 2020 and enrolled since May 2020, but COVID affected her attendance). The teachers at the first branch were incredibly caring, giving her lots of hugs, cuddles, and attention. However, I felt they didn’t always follow the planned monthly programs, which concerned me a bit.
When we moved in November, we transferred her to a different TLE closer to our new home, and the experience has been completely different. This location is much more structured and adheres closely to the educational programs. My daughter really enjoys her teachers and has made friends. Even the menu is more sophisticated compared to our original TLE. The teachers here seem more experienced and capable of running things effectively.
I’m not sure if it’s because she’s a bit older now (she’s about to transition from Twaddlers to Preschool 1 later this month), but she’s highly engaged and learning a lot.
Effective learning experiences for newborns include sensory activities such as gentle touch, listening to soothing music, and exposure to different textures. Talking, singing, and reading to them stimulates language development. Visual stimulation with contrasting colors and facial expressions also helps. Ensuring a safe, nurturing environment supports cognitive and emotional growth.
