Suggestions on The Best Shoes for Babies Learning to Walk

Hey there…

I’m looking for recommendations on the best shoes for babies who are just starting to walk. What brands or styles have worked well for your little ones? I’m particularly interested in shoes that provide good support and are comfortable for their developing feet. Any tips on what to look for or specific features that are important will be greatly appreciated…

I love stride rite shoes; they’re available online or at Kohls, where you can also use Kohls Cash and other promo codes to receive a nice discount.

A word on the shoes as well. You’re right that kids don’t wear them for very long, but my child has worn them nonstop since she learned to walk. Daily for three to six months. A well-fitting pair of shoes, or two, and a well-made winter coat (if you live in the North), are investments that pay off because kids will use them a lot. His sneakers were used for six months each time because my child only went up two sizes between the ages of 1-2.

Leather moccasins were good for my kids. We enjoyed Robeez and Cade&Co. And Stride Rite’s soft movements make excellent first “real” shoes. Rubber soles are quite comfortable and suitable for wide feet.

My sister used soft-soled moccasins from Amazon, which are stretchy and fit nicely over infant feet.
