This is the first time something like this has happened, and I’m feeling so awful about it. We usually take a nap, but about 30 minutes ago, I needed to use the bathroom. I thought my little one would be fine since he was in the middle of the bed, but as soon as I sat down, I heard him fall and start crying. I rushed to him as fast as I could. After about 5 minutes, he seemed okay. My boyfriend even came home from work to check on him, and we had an appointment with the pediatrician in two hours. He fell on his face, had a swollen lip that has since gone down, and a bruise on his nose. He’s acting completely normal, drinking water, and playing with his toys, but I’m still so worried about everything.
From the delivery bed, my SIL dropped her minutes-old, brand-new baby to the hospital floor. He is doing great. Infants have a lot of resilience. Going to the doctor is a wonderful thing, but remember that these things happen, so try not to be too hard on yourself. Wishing you luck!
This has occurred to someone else I know! Specifically, within an hour of birth.
After birthing my daughter, I was shaking so much that I felt like I was going to drop my LO. I was so worried that I demanded my spouse hold her hand until my shakes stopped. Undoubtedly, babies are tougher than we realize!
I completely forgot about the shakes! I was chattering my teeth like crazy
Also me! What does that have to do with? Funny enough, I even begged the nurse to cover me with blankets and give me the soothing touch of someone who is cold (I should mention that I had been taking medication for delivery).
It’s a hormonal dump that is unrelated to any medication, not even the epidural you may have received. The tremors are brought on by an overabundance of hormones.
Regards! Funny how no one just explains weird things in the hospital, and here I am, nearly two years later, learning from a stranger on the internet. I’ve had SHAKKKKKES before, too, but they weren’t frigid; instead, they made me feel as though I was going to die. I don’t know why, it was all so bizarre.
Hormones are one cause, I know, but I’m quite sure several medications can do the same. My entire body trembles due to the anesthesia administered at the dentist. If the shakes began immediately after starting medication as opposed to after delivery, I would only think that this would change.
