LOL remember when I said to keep your kids at home?

Wow, I’m so sorry you and your baby are going through this. It sounds like a nightmare! I remind parents in my class to please keep sick children home, and thankfully most have listened. Still, contagions happen.

I once had a child throw up all over my classroom, and it took 45 minutes for the janitors to clean it up. I was in full-on panic mode about germs floating around! I ended up getting sick. It’s frustrating how some people say it’s all part of the job.

I remember your original post well. I commented on it and received backlash for being one of those teachers who lack empathy. I’ve comforted sick kids who really want their parents but can’t go home because their parents are out of sick days. While I understand it’s hard, so many parents act irresponsibly by not keeping their sick kids home.

Oof, this is truly terrible. I’m so sorry this happened to your little one. It’s awful to see them sick, especially when it could’ve been easily avoided. I’ve worked at daycares where illnesses spread fast, and all it takes is one sick child.

I can hear your frustration and righteous anger. I work in pharmacy, and the level of support teachers need is nowhere near what’s provided in our society. You and your family are exposed to so many illnesses daily.

KEEP YOUR KIDS HOME IF THEY ARE SICK. It’s easier said than done, but it’s so important for everyone’s health.

HFMD is often seen as a minor issue, but it can lead to serious consequences for parents and kids. We need better support systems in place for families to ensure healthy learning environments.

Um?

I didn’t see your original post, but as a teacher, I agree 100%. It’s the worst to have to take off work because sick kids come in and then end up getting sick themselves. I hope your little one recovers quickly.

Can the OP sue her employer?

I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through. I wish your little one the best. We just had a five-day hospital stay for our two-month-old due to RSV. After they were moved to pediatrics and released, they are still recovering.

I told my work I would stay remote for a few more weeks since I had RSV too. I don’t want to get anyone in the office sick.

This sub can be toxic. I got downvoted for telling a mom to trust her gut about not sending her special needs kid to school. It feels like a Facebook mom group here sometimes.

There’s no hostility here, just venting and sharing my experience.

If you think it’s hostile, don’t read it. We didn’t need your opinion.
