I enjoy the concept of a tea party! I utilized a variety of mismatched china, teacups, and saucers that I had from doing something similar for a church function.

OP, I would return it to your wife after the third rejection. You made an effort. She objected. She can now choose a theme that she enjoys. This birthday is for her, not for the baby. She can still help with the shopping and decorating, but you can still decide on the theme.
