I’m a new mom, and my baby is one week old today! I just realized I haven’t bathed her since they did it at the hospital after she was born. She doesn’t seem dirty, so I’m not sure when or how often I should give her a bath. Can anyone give me some advice?
Is her cord stump still intact? Bathing newborns on a daily basis is not a must. I gave mine a daily wipe-down till the stump came off, then a weekly bath with daily wipe-downs.
Generally, newborns do not need daily baths.
In fact, one to two baths a week is sufficient during the first few months. You can bathe them more often if needed, but consider skipping soap to avoid drying out their delicate skin.
If your baby spits up or dribbles milk, you can wipe them down more frequently. For diaper blowouts, a bath may be necessary to clean up. Otherwise, daily baths aren’t necessary at this age
Hey, For a newborn baby, it’s generally recommended to bathe them two to three times per week using a sponge bath until the umbilical cord stump falls off. After that, you can bathe them more frequently, around two to three times a week, ensuring to use mild baby soap and warm water to avoid drying out their skin.
Every day, since it’s part of bedtime routine and its dad’s specific binding ritual, but we don’t use soap every day. It’s mostly an excuse to have fun and splash around. Fortunately, we never had issues with dry skin or anything that would deter us from bathing daily .
