How Do You Manage Baby-Led Weaning with a Velcro Baby and a Busy Schedule?

Hey fellow parents,

Like many of you, I was super motivated to try baby-led weaning and prepare only fresh foods for my baby. However, reality is hitting hard right now. My little one is 6 months old and a total velcro baby, especially now that he’s teething and wants to be carried all day.

My husband works late every day, so it’s mostly just me juggling everything. When on earth am I supposed to cook all those good-looking, nutritious meals? I’m lucky if I manage to eat a sandwich in between taking care of him!

I guess my options are wearing him in a carrier while cooking (which is tricky and tiring), sacrificing my me-time/couple-time in the late evenings, or buying pre-made baby food here and there.

How do you all manage? Any tips for making this more doable? I really want to stick with baby-led weaning, but it feels overwhelming right now.

I’m not much of a cook. I’d microwave potatoes and veggies, and the baby ate the same food as the adults instead of separate meals.
If you need a break, give the baby some toys for the high chair. In a month or two, a small bowl of water and a washcloth will keep them entertained.

The baby ate the same food as I did, so I generally made nutritious meals but didn’t do extensive baby meal prep. For breakfast, it was often eggs and toast, along with some fruit. For lunch, I avoided things like salmon and vegetables.
