For what duration did the infant sleep in your room?

Although I am aware of the advice, I’m interested in hearing about specific experiences.

My spouse is currently sleeping in a different room due to his demanding work schedule, and I am on a one-year mat leave. After five weeks with our baby, I still miss my hubby.

She will share our bed till she turns one. Most likely longer. SIDS scares me too much. But I also enjoy having her near by because we’re both sleeping well so far. She is five months old.

I can’t even begin to contemplate placing her in a separate room—I had the halo bassinest, and it was such a difficult adjustment to upgrading to her cot next my bed. The “tough shift” was all related to my attachment to her, rather than anything to do with her :joy:

One week, hehe. I was barely able to get any sleep at all since my baby was making such a loud noise when he slept. In addition to keeping his door open, we have a baby monitor that lets us hear him cry. Separate rooms allow us all to sleep much better.

When she gets here, I believe this will also be me. I’m dreading this phase because I’m a light sleeper and it takes me forever to fall asleep.

Same, ugh. Even when I’m tired, it takes me ages to go to asleep. We’ll overcome it.

Three and a half months. The crib was too big for the bedroom and he outgrew the bassinet. We all sleep lot better, it turns out.

Likewise, though perhaps it lasted 2.5 months for us? We moved her just before she outgrew the bassinet so that we had some cushion in case it was a disaster. It all seems to be a haze. It was really nice to get our room back, and she was fine. I never imagined that reading a little before bed or getting ready for bed with the lights on would feel like such indulgences.
