I had to leave the Facebook Mom group I joined because there was so much anti-vaccine talk. It got to the point where a mom asking simple questions about where to get the flu vaccine was bullied by the others in the group. It was really surprising.
I told the mom asking that my pediatrician did flu, COVID, and RSV vaccines at her six-month checkup, and then I got bombarded with harsh messages from other moms saying it was basically abuse to vaccinate kids. What is wrong with people?
It’s so hard to make mom friends when this is what you find. I’m sharing this because there’s no vent option, but my tip is to please vaccinate your kids and stay off Facebook.
Please remember Rule #7. No anti-vaccine misinformation.
Discussion of different ideas is great, but the anti-vaccine movement thrives on false information. We will not allow that here. Any anti-vaccine comments will be removed and offenders will be banned.

I left a local Facebook group for the same reason.
I wonder how many people really don’t vaccinate their kids. It’s scary to think my child will be in school with these other kids.
In my area, many pediatricians refuse to see patients who don’t vaccinate, so I think some people just get the minimum and say they don’t. But why lie? I don’t get it.

I block moms who post anti-vax stuff and other political nonsense. That way, I won’t end up making playdates with them. I blocked a daycare mom on Instagram recently after her political views came out through her Stories. No need for my daughter to be around that.
@arnoldbeaver
One of the caregivers in my son’s daycare walked into the room on Election Day wearing a big ol’ political sweatshirt. I was surprised it was allowed. I’ve seen some things that I really disliked at our facility and have been looking at other options since he was born. It’s disappointing that I can’t feel good about the people my kid is around.
@Dakota
I don’t mind the sweatshirt as long as the caregiver is doing a good job. But those anti-vax moms drive me crazy with their constant misinformation about vaccines.

I wouldn’t be okay with the sweatshirt if it represents someone who wants to dismantle education and other harmful things. That goes against what daycare should be about.
@Laurel
It really is concerning! And it was just a super local group, so my little one will likely come across some of these kids at some point.
I had to bite my tongue at the women shaming me for keeping my child safe. I wanted to respond hard, but if they ignore their pediatricians, there’s no way I’m getting through to them.
@Laurel
There are so many posts in my local group asking for pediatricians who don’t require vaccinations. Good to know so I can avoid those places for my kids.
When my daughter was born in 2021, I chose my pediatrician based on who signed a letter to the school district, urging them to keep the mask mandate.
I agree, Facebook mom groups are terrible. I left all of them. I got so tired of seeing silly questions. (There are no stupid questions, but wow, some of these are just basic common sense.)

I know what you mean about silly questions. In one of my mom groups, a mom was asking things like, ‘what should I do if my baby has a fever?’ or ‘should I go to the hospital for x, y, z?’. It was a problem, especially since it was her fourth baby. You’d think she’d know by now. In the end, she got banned for not following group rules.

That’s what I see in this forum too. A lot of simple questions that make me sad about the future if these adults don’t even have basic common sense.
