Best Baby Wash & Lotions Recommendations?

Hi everyone,

I am a new parent and I am looking for recommendations on baby wash and lotions. There are so many options out there, and I want to make sure I choose the best ones for my baby’s delicate skin. What brands or products have you found to be gentle and effective? Are there any ingredients I should avoid?

I agree with CeraVe. I was using Johnson & Johnson’s regular baby shampoo and lotion, but it was making my daughter’s skin a little dry.

We just use Dr. Bronner’s baby unscented soap for everyone in the family, so it doesn’t add any extra cost. I don’t really trust soaps specifically marketed for babies because they often seem like a gimmick and are usually overpriced. Plus, they sometimes contain chemicals that make you need to buy additional products like lotions or oils. I’m not a fan of Johnson & Johnson products either, given their history with lawsuits.

By the way, every night before bed, we use Badger’s Sleepy Time Balm for a quick body massage as the only lotion or oil we put on her. Her skin has been perfect since birth—she’s 10 months old and hasn’t had any skin problems.

We use all of the unscented products from Pipette, and I’m really happy with them. My baby hasn’t had any problems with them at all.

We’ve been using Mustela for body lotion and shampoo, and EllaOla for face moisturizer. My baby had really dry skin on her face, but just a tiny bit of the moisturizer has made a huge difference!

Hello Rachelmay I appreciate you sharing your methodology. For the whole family, using Dr. Bronner’s baby unscented soap seems like a sensible decision. I agree that some baby-specific soaps may include extra chemicals and be expensive. It’s wonderful to read that Badger’s Sleepy Time Balm maintains your baby’s skin healthy and that it works well for you. Your regimen seems well-thought-out and efficient. Thank you for the insights!

I use Aveeno Baby Shampoo, Body Wash, and Lotion. Weleda or Honest Baby Body/Hair Wash/Baby Oil. There is no need for lotion; oils work much better. According to my family doctor, there is a special component in coconut oil that works well for flaking off the skin.
