Since I’m an FTM, I’m not sure what constitutes normal. I’m concerned since my 9-month-old seems to be sticking his tongue out a lot. I made the mistake of Googling it and discovered that macroglossia, or an enlarged tongue, can be a symptom of a disorder called BWS. His doctor told me she didn’t think he had macroglossia when I brought it up. Are you simply seeking confirmation that other infants also experience this? Baby puts his tongue in his mouth while he sleeps, and while he’s playing, he frequently has the tip between his lips or sticking out.
My eight-month-old never stops poking his tongue out at us. However, I also think it might be a learned behavior because I also put my tongue out at him when we play.
This stage of the eruption of their front teeth was experienced by our LO. He had his tongue out in every picture taken of him between the ages of six and seven months.
I wonder whether this is the cause. The baby already has seven teeth, and the bottom fourth is almost ready to erupt. It feels like we haven’t had a vacation from teething in three months!
We happen to be in the same boat! There are six teeth so far; teething began at three months, and the bib rash is unavoidable!
If he can fit his tongue in his mouth while he’s sleeping, it’s most likely a phase.
My nine-month-old baby kind of acts in this way as she gets used to feeling her new teeth.
Hello, OP. Arriving late, I came onto this through a search. Additionally, my 9-month-old frequently rests his tongue outside of his mouth. Since he only has two teeth, I think he is doing it because his gums ache. For the past four weeks, he has been doing it five days a week, but we still only have two (who have been here for two months). Did this get resolved on its own?
Hello! Yes, it has resolved itself. My son, who is about three years old, no longer leaves his tongue outside of his mouth. Yes, he now has a small lisp! He does not, in fact, have macroglossia; I’m not sure if that’s linked.
